Rain or shine, the fans made sure to pop out for Kehlani’s Complex Pop-Up to support her self-titled album.

On Saturday (April 25), fans lined the streets of New York in the freezing rain for a chance to purchase the singer’s latest album, released the day prior. Both vinyl and CDs were available with the original and alternate covers, as well as exclusive posters and additional merchandise.

Fans were also able to meet Kehlani and take photos with their new digs that she was available to sign. “Everybody is outside; they’ve been here since 5:30 in the morning in the rain. I love you for that, New York. You’re so real,” she said.

Kehlani is her first release since the 2024 mixtape While We Wait 2, and her first album since Crash released the same year. Her self-titled is supported by the smash hit single “Folded,” which earned the singer her first Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.

The album also features a stacked feature list, including Lil Wayne, Clipse, Missy Elliott, Brandy, Usher, Cardi B, T-Pain, Lil Jon, Big Sean and Leon Thomas.

In a Complex interview with Jillian Superstar, Kehlani recalled the emotions she had to process when creating the album. “I went and locked myself in the room, and I started randomly processing a bunch of things from 2020,” she shared. “I started making all this weird music. All this dark, weird, and emotional shit with my engineer.”

From there, the universe gave her a sign that this was all according to plan. "When I went back to Los Angeles, I knew what time it was,” she said. “Weeks later came [eventual top 10 hit and Grammy-winning track] ‘Folded.’ I knew, ‘Oh, something’s happening.’”

Kehlani is available for purchase now.
