Florida rapper Denzel Curry is bringing it back to where he started with his newest album, King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2, the long-awaited follow-up to his 2012 breakout tape of the same name.

Two years on since 2022's Melt My Eyez, Curry digs into the rich musical history of the South and taps into the lo-fi eeriness of early horrorcore and Memphis rap. Triplet flows, muffled hi-hats, and menacing lyrics are laced throughout the loving tribute to some of Curry's biggest inspirations.

The album was preceded by "HOT ONE," a banger of a cut that premiered on his raucous On The Radar session, and features Tiacorine and ASAP Ferg blacking out on the club hit sure to shut down the function a la Three 6 Mafia's "Tear Da Club Up." Curry also linked up with slick-talking Texas rapper That Mexican OT for "BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE."

Across the album are some familiar names such as Raider Klan OG Key Nyata, Texas wordsmith Maxo Kream, feature slayer 2 Chainz, Southern rap forefather Project Pat, and more. Memphis rap pioneer Kingpin Skinny Pimp is also featured across the album's interludes.

On Vol. 1, Curry also went by his alter ego Raven Miyagi. The tape, which features fellow Raider Klan members, eventually caught the attention of Odd Future during their meteoric rise. From there, Curry left Raider Klan and released his debut Nostalgic 64 in 2013 and has risen to one of the greatest stories coming out of the tail end of the Blog Era.

Pigeons & Planes will be hosting a release party for Curry's King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2 in New York. You can find out more information here and watch "BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE" below.
