King Von, “War”

“War” is a posthumous track from late Chicago rapper King Von. Over a sinister beat produced by Chopsquad DJ, Von lays down lethal bars about murder, prison, and gang activity. “I’m the type of nigga go to church with my gun out/ Gotta pray for my gun, he gеt too wild” he raps. “War” is a track from Von’s posthumous album, What It Means to Be King, out today.

Pusha-T & NIGO, “Hear Me Clearly”

NIGO enlists Pusha T for his latest single “Hear Me Clearly.” Over a menacing beat, co-produced by Ye, BoogzDaBeats, Luca Starz, and ThaMyind, Pusha-T delivers coke bars with dizzying metaphors, spitting, “Covered in white like bridezilla and never been caught/ So what’s the Shiggy dance for a brick nigga?” Push also interpolates lyrics from Jay-Z’s verse on Rick Ross’ 2010 track “Free Mason” on the chorus. “Hear Me Clearly” was originally previewed at Kenzo’s Autumn/Winter 2022 show in Paris and will appear on NIGO’s upcoming album, I Know NIGO.

Joey Badass, “Head High”

“Head High” is a reflective track that finds Joey Bada$$ pondering the meaning of life. On the track, the New York rapper wrestles with life and death, spitting, “Every second, gotta own it/ Cause you never know when could be your last/ Time breathin, now you bleedin from the gun blast/ And you thinkin’ bout the past, see your whole life in a flash.” He also mentions friends who passed away at a young age. “Head High” is the latest single from Joey Bada$$’s long-awaited album.

DaBaby & YoungBoy Never Broke Again, “Head Off”

“Head Off” is a catchy track where DaBaby and YoungBoy Never Broke Again go bar for bar. Over a menacing beat, YoungBoy kicks off with a verse about his arsenal of weapons and hunger for cash. “Fuck these niggas, keep that pistol hidden, take his head off/ I got the game from my momma, stay chasing them commas/ I’ma get me a hundred then I’m heading out,” he spits. DaBaby matches YoungBoy’s energy, rhyming, “How these lil’ fuck niggas talkin’?/ Like they can’t die, put ‘em in a coffin/ Stand with my blicky, gotta keep it with me.” “Head Off” is a highlight from their new joint album Better Than You.

Morray f/ Cordae, “Still Here”

“Still Here” is a thoughtful and triumphant record that unites North Carolina’s rising star Morray with the DMV’s Cordae. On the track, Morray reflects on the hardships of coming up in this world, but celebrates the fact that he is still living to tell his story. “It ain’t the same in this world but I’m still here/ Gotta be strong as I can having all these fears,” he sings over a soulful beat. Cordae also delivers a thoughtful verse, rapping, “I heard that Earth’s a strange hell, as a reason I can’t tell/ Vision clouded, wires routed, nothin’ new about it/ Gettin’ high, thinkin’ ‘bout that cash, what would we do without it?”

Blxst & Zacari, “Sometimes”

“Sometimes” is a soothing from Blxst and Zacari. On the track, Blxst tries to run from temptation and distractions, but often gets swept up in it. “When temptation keep callin’ my phone/ How am I supposed to right all of my wrongs?/ The DJ keep playin’ all of my songs/ They love mе out of town, make it hard to come home,” he sings. Zacari’s high and melodic vocals provide a smooth transition on the chorus.
