Peachie Wimbush
Mother Of...Wiz Khalifa
Street Cred: Wiz told us that when his mom found out that her son smokes weed, her response was, "If you gonna be smokin', give me some, nigga!" Wiz even said that he'd "get my ass beat if I don't smoke with her." Okay, so maybe that's not super-gangsta, but it is super-awesome to have a mom who's cool like that. Again we say: Taylor Gang or have your mama beat your ass for bogarting the weed, bitches!
Nancy Jones
Mother Of...Jim Jones
Street Cred: Mama Jones keeps it 100 with her clothing lines Nostic and Jonezz. Plus she throws up the One-Eyed Willy. If that ain't gangsta, we don't what is. Maybe child soldiers?
Jacida Carter
Mother Of...Lil Wayne
Street Cred: Surviving as a single parent in the Hollygrove Projects of New Orleans could be justification enough for Jacida Carter. Wayne's father left him and his mother shortly after the rapper was born. Jacida was only 19. She found stability, though, when she met Reginald "Rabbit" McDonald who moved them to East New Orleans. But in perhaps her most gangster move, Jacida allowed an 11-year-old Wayne to sign with Cash Money records and pursue rapping. In response to her sons recent death rumors, Jacida said the following, "F*ck all you greedy whore lying media scum, taking my poor baby's lil' drug problem and blowing it up like that!" Like Wayne said on "Playin' With Fire," he doesn't play, "And she don't play neither."
Janice Combs
Mother Of...Diddy
Street Cred: Janice Combs might not be as wild as some of the other people on this list, but that doesn't make her any less gangsta. Diddy's dad Melvin Combs was a well-known Harlem gangsta who had connections to both Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnes, and Janice was the boss' ride or die chick. After her husband was brutally murdered when Diddy was still a child, she took to rising young Sean on her own. Nowadays you can catch her on the red carpet with Diddy, sporting a blonde wig like a '98 Lil Kim.
Lynette Taylor
Mother Of...Game
Street Cred: Game once spit, "Let me tell you why I do this shit: I'm a son of a gun 'cause Moms was a Hoover Crip." We didn't totally believe Game (we never really do)...until this video of his mom cussing out Spider Loc popped up on the Internets. Taylor gang or get sonned by somebody else's mama! See what we did there? THEIR LAST NAME IS TAYLOR!
Killer Mike's Mom
Mother Of...Killer Mike
Street Cred: Having her son at the age of 16 didn't leave many choices for Killer Mike's mother. She had a clean 9 to 5 selling flowers, with a growing eye for poppies. "My mom was a florist. Then she got into selling a little coke on the side," Mike has said in an interview with the Portland Mercury. "She got hooked up with a dealer, a trafficker, and eventually entered the adventurous world of trafficking." That would explain why Mike can talk to his mom so easily about drugs, like he did in a recent video where she declared "I need my hooptie fixed."
Debra Antney
Mother Of...Waka Flocka Flame
Street Cred: The CEO of Mizay Entertainment, Waka's momager isn't just a boss who once boasted Waka, Nicki Minaj, and Gucci Mane as clients but also a survivor who really lived a hard knock life. In an interview with Vibe she revealed that as a child she nearly OD'ed on heroin saying, "[I was] playing with a mountain of heroin, thinking it was baby powder, it absorbed in my body."
She went on to say, "I remember sitting in the car with my father telling me to look out while he robbed a place that my moms was working." If that isn't gangsta enough for you, peep this incredible interview where she drops at least a dozen quotables.
Sabrina Jackson
Mother Of...50 Cent
Street Cred: No wonder 50 Cent grew up to pump krills—his mother was a cocaine dealer herself. It's long been rumored that she worked with or for Kenneth "Supreme" Mcgriff, but no one knows for sure. What we do know is that she was murdered at the age of 27 when someone drugged her drink, shut the windows, and turned on the gas. Damn.
Deborah Bryant
Mother Of...Lil Scrappy
Street Cred: Look, you don't want no problem with Lil Scrappy or his mama. Deborah Bryant, or Momma Dee, accompanies her son on Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta, but she was hustler before either of them grasped fame. A registered nurse at Grady Hospital, Dee worked double shifts to support her family before injuring herself in a car accident.
She turned to the streets, Atlanta's Cleveland Ave. to be specific, and began pimping (or would it be madam-ing?) and selling drugs. Scrappy remembers one instance when Dee crossed paths with a prostitute who left her for a rival pimp: "My mama caught her slipping in traffic and bust her across the head with a crowbar. That crowbar was stuck in her head and she was sitting there shaking." Gangsta creds verified.
Afeni Shakur
Mother Of...2Pac
Street Cred: Before giving birth to 2Pac, Shakur was a member of the militant Black Panther party. In fact, she gave birth to Pac just a month after getting acquitted on charges of conspiracy against the US Government. When Pac was fatally shot in '96, she stepped up and did all she could to keep his legacy alive by producing 2Pac: Resurrection, starting the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, and suing anyone who tries to fuck up Pac's memory. Oh, and she still smokes weed!
