Troubled singer R. Kelly is moving out of his Chicago recording studio after being hit with court-ordered restricted access.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, Kelly's lawyers Melvin Sims and Steven Greenberg disclosed to TMZ that the singer is being forced to leave his infamous studio after sanctions put in place by a judge have stopped his "creative juices."
According to city inspectors, the studio where Kelly recorded "Ignition," "Step in The Name Of Love," and "Trapped in the Closet" has had it working hours limited due to a litany of building code violations. This has led to a 9 p.m. curfew that Kelly says is limiting his "musical innovation." As a result, he is looking for another place to set up shop.
This move adds to the drama surrounding R. Kelly since Lifetime aired its Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. This is highlighted by a growing movement to prosecute the singer for his deviant lifestyle.
However, per the Associated Press, there is a mountain of obstacles to climb. For example, for Kelly to face a new child pornography case, it must be proven that he knowingly had sex with an underage girl. In addition, they would have to present the case in a way that doesn't appear to be double-jeopardy.
