UPDATED 3/3, 9:50 p.m. ET: Flavor Flav took to IG to post an additional message about being kicked out of Public Enemy.
Legendary hypeman and former member of Public Enemy, Flavor Flav, sent out a series of tweets responding to being kicked out of the group.
On Sunday, Chuck D revealed to Rolling Stone that the group would be moving forward without Flavor Flav.
"Public Enemy and Public Enemy Radio will be moving forward without Flavor Flav," the group said in a statement. "We thank him for his years of service and wish him well."
This comes after Flav sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Bernie Sanders campaign following Chuck D announcing that the group would be performing at a livestreamed Bernie Sanders rally on Sunday. Prior to formally excommunicating Flavor Flav, Chuck took to Twitter where he pointed to multiple times that Flav refused to support the group.
Chuck and his lawyers also warned Flav that he could be kicked out of the group if he continues to pursue his dispute with Bernie Sanders.
"He has a year to get his act together and get himself straight or he’s out," Chuck said to HipHopDX before his lawyer added: "From a legal standpoint, Chuck could perform as Public Enemy if he ever wanted to; he is the sole owner of the Public Enemy trademark. He originally drew the logo himself in the mid-’80s, is also the creative visionary and the group’s primary songwriter, having written Flavor’s most memorable lines."
