Bubbling New York City rapper, Nick Blixky, was shot and killed, police tell CNN.

The 21-year-old was found unconscious and unresponsive with "gunshot wounds to his torso and buttocks" on Sunday (May 10) in front of a building in Brooklyn's Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood at around 9:30 pm local time. He was taken to Kings Country Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Per the authorities, Blixky was discovered after police received calls about a shooting in the area.

Blixky was part of Brooklyn's thriving drill music scene. He frequently collaborated with artists like 22Gz and other members of the Blixky Gang. Nick Blixky's ascent was spearheaded by the success of his single, "Drive The Boat," which amassed more than two million views on YouTube.

Nick Blixky was prepared to capitalize on this success. Just hours before he was killed, Blixky revealed that his debut mixtape, Different Timin, would be released in June.

"JUNE 3RD‼️ I’m dropping my first Tape ever," Blixky captioned an Instagram post containing the tape's cover art. "LOCK IN THE DATE. DIFFERENT TIMIN."

No arrests have been made for Blixky's murder and the investigation is still ongoing. Several of Blixky's associates and fans took to social media after his death hit headlines.
