Shortly after Jay Z dropped his new video for "Family Feud" Friday evening, director Ava DuVernay tweeted out a series of photos from her time on set.

Each image was accompanied by short messages from DuVernay, providing additional context for the star-studded video's themes and inspirations. DuVernay began the string of tweets with a thank you message for the production team. She also made a point of specifically thanking Jay, writing, "Thank you to @S_C_ for the strong collaboration. A pleasure and an honor."

First, DuVernay shared some behind the scenes snaps of the video's opening scene, which centered around the theme of "errors."

She shared additional photos from the second scene next, but kept its underlying themes to herself. DuVernay did offer some context on her decision to illustrate a non-traditional president, however, writing, "I loved the idea of their being Co-Presidents of the United States in the future. And that a Native American woman was one of them."

DuVernay explained that the video's next scene acted as a reunion for the cast of her feature film Middle of Nowhere. Commenting on the scene's message, she wrote, "Change sometimes require force. A vision of freedom fighters. A world of warriors for good."

The next scene focused on the power of motherhood. Then, DuVernay took the opportunity to share her inspiration for Jay Z's confession shots.

DuVernay concluded her thread with some thoughts on Jay Z, Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and their whole family.
