Last night, the taping for the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards went down in Atlanta at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.
Among the highlights were Scarface accepting his “I Am Hip Hop” Award, as well as Diddy performing a new song (“Workin’’) with Lil Kim and Styles P. But a joyous occasion took a turn for the worse when ‘Face stepped off stage and was reportedly met with officers waiting to arrest him for unpaid child support at the celebrity trailer area.
According to a story by entertainment blogger/photographer Freddy O, a source tells the website that ‘Face risked getting arrested just so he can be honored and receive his coveted award. The warrant, issued by the State of Texas, claims he wasn’t allowed to leave the state.
In the past, ‘Face has spent significant time in jail for unpaid child support. In 2010, he was locked up in Texas for four separate cases of failing to not pay child support. It’s unclear how much he owes for this latest incident, but he once owed over $123,000 dollars.
Complex has reached out to ‘Face’s management and publicist for comment.
