This week, hip-hop lost a legend.

Phife Dawg, one of the founding members of A Tribe Called Quest, passed away after a well-known bout with diabetes. The hip-hop community mourned the loss of Phife Dawg with tributes on social media, as well as songs like “5 Foot Assassin” by Mac Miller.

Busta Rhymes was devastated by the news and wrote a tribute to Phife Dawg to Instagram. A bit of history: Busta was part of Leaders of the New School and appeared on “Scenario” off The Low End Theory. He talked about how much it meant that Tribe put him on the record, especially as the last verse that was everything at the time.

Busta Buss was the host of Hot 97’s “Hot for the Holidays” last December, bringing outDiddy, Lil Wayne, Mary J. Blige, French Montana and many more at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. He also had the pleasure of performing “Scenario” live with Tribe. It was their last performance as a group together.
