Kaytranada Will Make an Unexpected Appearance on Kendrick Lamar's 'DAMN.' Album

Celebrated producer Kaytranada worked on Kendrick's new album, but it's not what you think.

Earlier today, Kendrick Lamar hit fans with the cover art and tracklist for his new album DAMN. The project spans 14 tracks, and only two features (Rihanna, U2), which feels fairly light for K-Dot's normal standards. By comparison, To Pimp a Butterfly had nine credited guests who contributed in varying degrees.

It turns out another artist will be making an appearance on the album, but they will go uncredited, as celebrated producer Kaytranada took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal in a since-deleted tweet that he'll be singing on "Lust," in Auto-Tune, no less:

Kaytranada went on to thank BADBADNOTGOOD, who helped him score the look:

BADBADNOTGOOD produced the track alongside TDE's in-house producer Sounwave and DJ Dahi.

This is a huge look for Kaytranada, and probably something fans wouldn't have expected from him. Talk about diversify your brand.

As far as the two credited guests, we still don't know in what capacity Rihanna and U2 will be featured, but we have our guesses. Rihanna will likely come with a proper hook for "Loyalty," and U2 is either doing their thing on a chorus for "XXX," or are possibly sampled/interpolated on the track. I don't think we'll be hearing Bono going bar-for-bar with Kendrick. We only have a few more days until we find out what DAMN. is all about. You can pre-order the album on iTunes.
