Kendrick Lamar’s GNX has returned to the number one spot on the Billboard 200, a three-slot jump surely juiced by his rousing Super Bowl halftime performance earlier in the month. The album was also released on physical formats, which, per Billboard, played a factor in its return to the top spot as well.
But perhaps more impressive than Kendrick’s latest album topping the charts four months after its release is him becoming the first rapper with three albums in the top 10. That’s right, folks. Along with GNX, Kendrick also saw his classic albums DAMN. and good kid, m.A.A.d city also re-enter the Billboard 200 top 10. Now, for the numbers. Per Billboard, GNX finished with 236,000 equivalent album units earned with 117,000 of those comprised of SEA units. Meanwhile, DAMN. had 39,000 equivalent album units earned, while good kid, m.A.A.d city scored 37,000 units. All in all, just a monster week for Kendrick.
Elsewhere on the chart, SZA’s ‘SOS’ finished at number two on the chart, while The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow fell from number one to number three.
