Last night, Chance The Rapper returned back home to the venerated Chicago Theatre for Power 92’s 15-year anniversary and delivered a characteristically phenomenal performance. The bill was stacked with some of the the city’s most promising young talent from Lil Bibby, Dreezy, and Famous Dex, but it was Chance, decked out in his newly designed Chicago White Sox hat, that stole the show. Mixing in favorites like "Juice" and "Chain Smoker" from his first two mixtapes 10 Day and Acid Rap, as well as tracks like "Angels" and "Sunday Candy" from his most recent project Surf with Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment, the rapper put on a high energy revue that left the audience singing, dancing, and begging for more by the time it finally ended 90-minutes later.

Amongst the biggest highlights from the evening was a guest spot from BJ The Chicago Kid to perform his song "Church" which features a guest verse from Chance, the inclusion of the famous Chicago Bucket Boys, a group of celebrated, local street performers who pounded out a raucous back beat to the "Arthur Theme Song," and a truly rapturous performance of Kanye West'sThe Life of Pablo album opener "Ultra Light Beam" that came complete with a full-on choir decked out in white.

In a bit of news, Chance also reaffirmed his intention to drop his highly anticipated third mixtape sometime later this month. It’s been three years since he released his last solo mixtape, and while his work with Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment and Free (Based Freestyles Mixtape), his collaboration with Lil B were fantastic side projects, fans have been getting antsy for something released under Chance’s own name. Be make sure to keep your eyes peeled and your ears open across the next three weeks.
