The Steven Harrington edition of Isaiah Rashad's It's Been Awful album is available on Complex in two colorways.
The album marks Rashad's first full-length release in five years, a stretch of silence that made It's Been Awful a highly anticipated return in rap. The Chattanooga-bred TDE artist first broke through on the 2012 Smoker's Club Tour, built a devoted following with his Cilvia Demo debut in 2014, and then cemented his reputation with The Sun's Tirade, which cracked the top 20 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. His 2021 follow-up, The House Is Burning, peaked at No. 7 on the same chart—a number that only sharpened the anticipation for whatever came next.
For this release, Rashad tapped Los Angeles-based artist Steven Harrington to create original artwork for the packaging. Harrington's psychedelic, sun-drenched visual style gives the gatefold a look that feels like a natural extension of Rashad's layered, introspective sound. The swirl pressing itself makes each copy a one-of-a-kind physical object. Rashad's catalog has always rewarded close listening; this edition is built for the same kind of attention.
