Governor of California Gavin Newsom seems to have chosen a side in the rift between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj — and the latter has dragged the governor's "lace front" in a tweet.

Newsom caught heat from the Pink Friday 2 rapper on X on Saturday (December 13), referring to him as "scum" and making jabs about his "salt and pepper" hair.

The posts came after Newsom posted Instagram reel highlighting the friendship between President Donald Trump and deceased financier and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The reel comes shortly after Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released dozens of photos of Epstein with a number of powerful men, including Trump and Bill Clinton.

Soundtracking Newsom's clip was Megan's 2024 track "Hiss," where she notably dissed Minaj with the verse: "These hoes don't be mad at Megan/ These hoes mad at Megan's Law/ I don't really know what the problem is/ But I guarantee, y'all don't want me to start/ Bitch, you a pussy, never finna check me every chance you get/ Bet yo weak ass won't address me."

Since thanking President Trump in her United Nations speech last month regarding what she characterized as the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, the rapper has repeatedly panned Governor Newsom's views. Minaj even criticized the governor's support for trans children, referencing remarks Newsom made about wanting to "see trans kids" on The Ezra Klein Show.

"I want to see trans kids," Newsom said, in the context of defending his position against trans athletes participating in girls' sports, which has been criticized by many LGBTQ advocates. "I have a trans godson. There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the L.G.B.T.Q. community."

"Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that," Minaj tweeted in response. "Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT."

She continued the mockery by saying, "I think Gavvy's still transitioning."

With his ridicule of President Trump, Newsom appears to be positioning himself for a 2028 election run, which Halle Berry has slammed considering the politician vetoing menopause care legislation. Newsom responded to Berry's criticism, saying that his veto came not because he was against the legislation, but because it would have "unintentionally" raised health care costs.

“I’ve included it in the budget next year, and she didn’t know that," Newsom said.
