Bebe Rexha has called out the music industry for being ageist, which prompted support from several other musicians.

“I recently had a MALE music executive tell me that I was getting too old and that my brand was ‘confusing,’” Rexha wrote in the caption of her body-positive selfie. “Because... I’m a songwriter and I post sexy pics on my Instagram and that’s not what female songwriters are suppose to do, especially for my age. I’m 29. I’m fed up with being put in a box.”

Taylor Swift replied to the post, writing, “DRAG THEM. 29 YEAR OLDS UNITE,” while Rita Ora commented, “My sexy songwriting [queen] You are beautiful, getting sexier with age and your talent SINGS for itself. Keep making those rules.”

The Chainsmokers, Ne-Yo, Tinashe, Lauren Jauregui, X Ambassadors, and Jamie Lynn Spears also backed the singer with supportive messages.
