Watch LaKeith Stanfield Flip Out Over the Phone With SZA in "I Hate U" Visualizer

LaKeith Stanfield appears in the visualizer for SZA's new hit song "I Hate U," which saw an official release from the singer after going viral on TikTok.

SZA has shared her visualizer for her hit song “I Hate U,” starring LaKeith Stanfield.

The Jack Begert-directed video opens with Stanfield yelling into the phone in his car, which sits in a desolate parking lot next to the ocean. He continues the conversation as he climbs out of his vehicle and walks to the beach. He’s later sent over the edge when he receives a text from SZA that says, “ I hate u,” and in exasperation, tosses his phone into the water.

SZA dropped the official version of the song in early December after its TikTok version went viral. “Honestly this started out as an exercise. I just wanted somewhere to dump my thoughts w out pressure..y’all made it a thing and I’m not mad lmao. ask and u shall receive,” she said on Instagram, regarding the song’s release.

“I Hate U” later earned the singer her first No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. She also set a new record on Apple Music in the song’s first week, for the most-streamed R&B song by a female artist.
