Ralo’s manager Queen thinks that the rapper is the subject of a federal investigation because of his music. “I feel like he is being targeted because of his song. Because of his lyrics. Because of his faith,” she told 11Alive News on Friday.

The Atlanta-based MC was arrested on April 15 for purportedly trafficking nearly $2 million worth of marijuana from California to Georgia: on one occasion, he was found with $800,000 worth of marijuana, and on another, $1 million. He’s been charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute marijuana, and is being held without bond. His team has maintained that he’s innocent.

The authorities also contend that Ralo is the leader of a gang called Famerica, which just happens to be the name of his record label. “Famerica is the record label Ralo started,” Queen told 11Alive News. “He started that so he would be able to sign artists. He signed himself, and put out his own music.”

She continued, “The sad part is, I don’t understand why when Black people come together it can be considered a gang. Just because I love my brother and I want to be around my brother, why is that a gang?”

Queen shared that Ralo is set to appear in court next week and will plead not guilty to the charges.
