Rae Sremmurd Want Childish Gambino Tour to Yield a 'Whole Project' Together

Rae Sremmurd think that a collaboration with Childish Gambino will be "natural."

Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi are on a considerable high, following the Monday announcement of a tour with Childish Gambino. After the news, Rae Sremmurd indicated that the tour might lead to a musical collaboration—or at least they hope.

Speaking with Billboard after a performance at a Reebok launch event in New York City on Monday night, Swae Lee said, “I got a laptop with about 1,000 bangers, I know Childish Gambino got about 2,000 or 3,000, who knows?” He continued, “We're gonna come together and make a whole project like, ‘Redbone’ and ‘Black Beatles.’”

They contend that the project would come together instinctively. “He's just a cool guy and we got the same type of vibe, so you can expect good music to come out of this,” Slim Jxmmi said. “It's natural. We don't gotta act, we can just be ourselves. He's himself everywhere he goes, and we're gonna be ourselves everywhere we go—so it's just gonna be like two different shows, we from two different places.”

The tour announcement comes on the heels of a big release from the duo; on March 1, the brothers dropped three singles from their forthcoming album SR3MM, one of which was a joint effort, while the other two were solo tracks from Swae and Jxmmi. Their shared song “Powerglide” was an homage to Three 6 Mafia.

While we don’t know exactly when SR3MM is expected to drop, Swae Lee verified a detail about the highly anticipated project. Last month, he took to Twitter to announce their third studio album would be a three-disc package with “one side Rae Sremmurd, one side Slim Jxmmi, and one side Swae Lee.”
