Nicki Minaj has a theory behind why she has been the target of swatting incidents over the last couple of years.
The Pink Friday rapper blamed the swattings on “political corruption” when responding to a fan, who was upset that Minaj co-signed Donald Trump’s recent comments about placing Nigeria on a watch list due to alleged anti-Christian violence.
Minaj wrote in her since-deleted tweet that her “home was swatted multiple times with my innocent toddler inside (with maybe 20 officers with guns drawn pointed at our home due to political corruption).”
Nicki was most recently swatted this April, when someone called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to claim that an assault had taken place at Minaj’s home in the Hidden Hills area. Minaj wasn’t home at the time.
However, she has been home during previous incidents. In June 2023, she was swatted when an anonymous caller told child services that Nicki's 2-year-old son was being abused. When police showed up to her home, they talked to Minaj and Kenneth Petty, and ultimately determined that the report was a hoax.
Then, a month later, Minaj was swatted again when law enforcement received a 911 call that Nicki had been shot; she was also home at the time.
As for Minaj's endorsement of Trump's remarks: over the weekend, she took to X to share the “deep sense of gratitude” she received from reading the president's post about Nigeria.
"We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion,” the Queens native wrote. “We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”
