Lupe Fiasco’s new song “Crash Out” is here, a previously unreleased track from his Food & Liquor sessions.
The song is released as the first track from Chill’s Spotlight Vol. 7, curated by Charles “Chilly” Patton, Lupe’s longtime business partner and co-founder of their label, 1st & 15th Entertainment.
“Originally recorded in 2006, and considered for the Food & Liquor tracklist, ‘Crash Out’ is a crackling call for revolution, a missive targeted directly at the powers-that-be,” a press release says of the song. “Lupe intended the song to be both a lesson in civil disobedience and a wake-up call for the complacent, urging rebels without causes to get organized and keep up the good fight.”
Vol. 7 includes other artists from 1st & 15th, including Billy Blue, Verse, and Ray.
Fiasco is also gearing up for his tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Grammy-winning debut album, 2006’s Food & Liquor. The trek kicks off on May 14 in Sacramento and makes stops in San Francisco, San Diego, and New York City, before he performs a two-show set in Chicago on June 11 and 12.
Chill’s Spotlight Vol. 7 arrives on May 1. Listen to “Crash Out” above.
