Los Angeles Rapper Yngx 17 Fatally Run Over by Trailer After Verbal Altercation With Motorist

Aspiring Los Angeles rapper Yngx 17 died earlier this week after a verbal altercation with a motorist who was pulling a trailer with a truck.

A Los Angeles rapper died on Monday in a road rage incident.

The aspiring artist who went by Yngx 17, real name Taariq Grant, was in North Hollywood when he, as a pedestrian, began arguing with a driver who was towing a trailer attached to a white Toyota Tundra. According to the Los Angeles Times, the “brief verbal altercation” happened around 3:40 p.m., while the driver was stopped in traffic.

The 28-year-old artist proceeded to get on top of the trailer’s left wheel well, which is when the truck started to move. The trailer hit a concrete barrier and Grant fell to the ground, where he was run over and pinned.

First responders arrived at the scene and Grant was pronounced dead. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office later identified him as the person who was killed. A family member verified on Tuesday that he performed under the name Yngx 17.

Police are still investigating the incident and no arrests have been made. It’s unclear what exactly the argument between Grant and the driver was about.

“Motorists are reminded to remain patient while driving on the roadway and pedestrians are reminded not to ride on portions of a vehicle that are not designated or intended for the use of passengers,” a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department says.
