Kevin Gates apparently has a powerful aura.
In a conversation with Bobbi Althoff for The Really Good Podcast, the Atlanta rapper commented on how people are just “attracted” to him and shared an anecdote involving a monk.
“I met a fuckin’ monk one time that said he never talked but he had to talk to me,” Gates claimed at around the 1:47:20 hour mark, adding that the monk taught him about his “chi,” or the “energy that’s in your body.”
When Althoff asked if the man is still a monk, Gates said, “I don’t know but I know…he said he had broke his vow of silence to talk to me. He said something about my aura. I meet some of the most interesting people everywhere I go. People just talk to me, and I don’t even look approachable.”
He added, “Some people be afraid of greatness. I’m so great, they be afraid to approach me.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Bobbi was shocked when Gates’ voice changed during a phone call with his mother. He was letting her know that he would stop by to see her later that night. When Mama Gates said it would be “very late” for a visit, he said he "don't give a damn what it's going to be," with a bit of an attitude.
Gates took her off speaker phone and seemed to be getting an earful from his mom. His voice then softened again as he said, "I'm gonna come tonight. OK, I love you, bye."
