Hybe, JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and YG Entertainment are working on a festival that aims to rival Coachella.
South Korean outlet, The Korea Herald, reports that the four companies, considered K-pop’s Big Four, recently submitted a proposal to South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission to form a joint venture.
The festival will likely be named Fanomenon, a blend of the words ‘fan’ and ‘phenomenon.’ According to the publication, JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park revealed that the event would debut in Korea in December 2027. The group also plans to expand the festival and take it on a major-city tour in May 2028.
“It is true that we are discussing a public-private cooperation model with the government’s Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange to promote the global expansion of the K-culture industry,” JYP Entertainment said in a statement, per Maeil Business Newspaper.
“No specific business details or operating methods have been finalized,” the company added. “We plan to make careful decisions by comprehensively considering market conditions and a wide range of opinions.”
Park first floated the Fanomenon concept during the Presidential Committee’s launch last October. The joint venture’s intention is to create a festival that eclipses Coachella and an event featuring major global acts alongside K-pop artists.
