The Game has discussed his current relationship with Kanye West, explaining that he looks at the controversial artist as family.

Speaking to Big Boy in a new interview, Game said he's "been a brother to Ye for a long time" and recalled meeting him outside of a Nelly album release party in the early 2000s.

"Me and Ye freestyled against each other," he recalled (around the 47:55 minute mark in the video below). "I definitely lost. The girls was laughing. They was laughing with him, what he was saying."

When Big Boy brought up some of West's more controversial moments, and asked how Game views them, the Compton rapper said he'll always back his brother and recalled how even when they had their own spat he didn't let it derail their friendship.

"That's my dog, man, til he crashed out on me and then I crashed back. … Head-on collision. But we good. We talked about it the very next day. We solid, man. But that's how it be with brothers, man. As long as you can own up to what you did and have a grown man conversation about it and all that."

The aforementioned crash-out involved Canadian rapper Top5, who West was reportedly upset with for constantly mentioning him online. West asked Game to do something about it and the Documentary rapper took the request seriously and subsequently reached out to Top5, telling him: "I need this to stop."

When Top5 agreed, he followed Game on his socials, and the LA rapper returned the favor "as an olive branch."

According to Game, that upset Kanye. "Ye said, 'Oh, gang following the opps,'" Game explained. "I said, 'Yeah, my boy, it's one of them kick, slap the meds off the table day or something.'"

"He crashed out," Game explained. "Ye is my brother, man. And so he knows that, to be his best self, he just got to make sure that he pop his meds. He's diagnosed with bipolar disorder."
