G Herbo Says He Isn't Opposed to Trump Sending National Guard to Chicago to 'Keep the Kids Safe'

It seems Trump is now second-guessing whether to deploy troops to Chicago.

G Herbo said he just wants to keep Chicago safe.

On Wednesday, the Big Swerv rapper told TMZ what he thought about President Donald Trump deploying National Guard troops to Herbo’s hometown.

“Just keep ‘em safe, man. Whatever you need to do to keep the kids safe, and the women,” Herb responded, not directly mentioning Trump. “Whatever gonna keep us safe and clean the streets, man, I’m all for it. Just make sure the babies get home. That’s all I care about, man.”

Trump has been threatening to send the National Guard to Chicago in an effort to help with crime. In August, he deemed the U.S.’s third-largest city “a disaster” and “a killing field,” per Politico.

“We go in, we will solve Chicago within one week, maybe less,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “But within one week we’ll have no crime in Chicago, like no crime in D.C.”

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker have vocally opposed Trump’s campaign, with Johnson calling the president’s use of guard members “uncoordinated, uncalled for, and unsound,” and something that could create more agitation in the city.

This week, however, it seems that Trump is rethinking his plan. According to WGN 9, Pritzker declined the president's offer to send the National Guard to Chicago, and Trump seemed to be moving on.

In June, Trump sent 2,000 guard members to Los Angeles against the wishes of Mayor Karen Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsom as protests against immigration control erupted across the city. Trump also sent another 800 troops to Washington, D.C., to aid local cops and federal authorities.

In August, Vic Mensa responded to Trump’s deployment threats with a social media video that outlined some surprising statistics about why the National Guard should stay out of Chicago.
