Camp Flog Gnaw celebrated MF Doom’s legacy this year.

The festival presented its showcase, FM Mood: A Tribute to MF Doom, which featured Erykah Badu, Madlib, an orchestra performing the late artist’s music, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson conducting in a DOOM mask.

“Safe journey, brother,” Erykah said at one point to Doom.

In addition to the musical showcase, Camp Flog Gnaw also had a MM..Food pop-up diner as a tribute to Doom’s 2004 album of the same name, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

The pop-up’s menu borrowed from the album with dishes like Beef Rapp, Deep Fried Frenz, Rapp Snitch Knishes and Kookies. The retro diner was decorated with green, pink, and purple signage, also as a nod to MM..Food.

Doom died on Oct. 31, 2020, at the age of 49, though his death wouldn’t become public until two months later on Dec. 31. The cause of death was eventually revealed to be angioedema, a rare reaction to blood pressure medication he had been prescribed.
