DMX Reportedly Making New Music, Fielding Movie Offers From Prison

DMX is spending the next year in federal prison for tax fraud.

Even though DMX is spending the next year in federal prison for tax fraud, that hasn’t stopped his hustle.

According to The Blast, X’s attorney Murray Richma shared that the rapper has been fielding proposals for new music, book deals, and movies about his life. Richma said the 47-year-old “looks great, is very happy, and overall, is doing remarkably well.”

DMX is currently jailed at Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, pending a transfer to FCI Danbury, which is closer to his home and has treatment programs that would benefit him. When he relocates, he’ll have to make time for his new music and movie offers between his 6 a.m. wake-up call and his mandatory job, which will either be a food service, unit orderly, or maintenance shop position.

Since X was sentenced in March, he’s been sent more than 600 pieces of fan mail from across the world. The letters include notes, photos, and drawings, among other things; however, he won’t be able to read any of it until after he serves his term, since the items are seen as illicit in prison.

In addition to his one-year sentence, DMX will also be forced to pay a hefty $2.3 million in restitution, and has been required to complete outpatient drug abuse and mental health programs upon his release.

He was convicted after prosecutors alleged that he tried to skip out on his $1.7 million tax bill by hiding royalties and other sources of income. Richman played X’s song “Slippin” in court to prove the challenges X has endured in his life, in hopes it would reduce his sentence, which didn’t work.
