Two new and immersive David Bowie pop-ups are coming to New York and London in celebration of his 75th birthday.

Called Bowie 75, the experiential events open on Oct. 25, just 75 days before Bowie’s Jan. 8 birthday. The icon would have turned 75, the New York Post reports. The New York pop-up is located on Soho’s Wooster Street, a short walk from Bowie’s home on Lafayette Street. The London location is situated on Heddon Street, where he shot the album cover for his 1972 album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.

Lawrence Peryer, who produced the event series, told the outlet, “These locations were chosen specifically.”

He continued, “It’s really about the authenticity. London was so important to Bowie as an artist, and his fan base there is phenomenally passionate. New York is where he lived and made his late-career music. He played the concert here after 9/11; he has so many ties. I read a beautiful quote from SOMA magazine where Bowie said, ‘I’m a New Yorker now.’”

In addition to a retail store, the museum has sound, video, and photography installations, as well as an immersive audio booth run by Bowie’s producer Tony Visconti. Elsewhere, fans can leave messages for Bowie, which will later appear on the exhibit’s website. They can also pen songs on “The Cut Up Magnet Wall,” which allows fans to rearrange his lyrics so they take on new messages, a method Bowie used himself. “This is evocative of one of the ways David created songs,” said Peryer. “It’s low tech, but high impact.”

Fans will be able to purchase forthcoming reissues of Bowie’s music, including his ‘90s boxed set, David Bowie 5: Brilliant Adventure (1992 – 2001), which drops Nov. 26, and Toy (Toy:Box), which releases Jan. 7. Both exhibits will be open through late January 2022
