Cardi B performing “WAP” during yesterday’s inauguration might have been the cultural reset America needed.

The rapper took to Twitter on early Thursday morning to joke that she couldn't perform her Megan Thee Stallion collab during Wednesday's events because had a prior obligation. “Ugh I was supposed to perform wap at the inauguration today but I had a dentist appointment ….maybe next time," she tweeted.

While Cardi didn’t appear at the inaugural proceedings, her music was somewhat present on Wednesday. During the Virtual Parade Across America, Ozuna performed “Taki Taki,” his collaboration with Cardi, DJ Snak, and Selena Gomez.

`“Very strong,” Cardi commented after catching a video of the performance.

A number of other musical celebrities played a role in Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony, with Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Garth Brooks performing at the day’s festivities, and Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, John Legend, and more performing that night.

Cardi has been vocal about her politics throughout the 2020 presidential election, and openly critical of Donald Trump. As a Democrat, she previously interviewed Biden while he was campaigning, and has also interviewed Bernie Sanders on two separate occasions.
