Big Sean has responded to allegations that he has a new girlfriend amid rumors that he and Jhené Aiko have broken up.

Sean replied to the idea that he was spotted with a woman who is allegedly his new partner through several comments he left under an Instagram post reporting what he's calling fake news.

"Yeah unfortunately I never met this person in my life lol," he wrote on Thursday. The rapper went on to explain that he "don't even know" the woman in question.

He added: "This girl was standing next to @hitboy who is cut out the video. I dont know why the fuck she was so close to me though. I didnt see it at all til i saw this video and can understand the frustrations. Smh [crying laughing emoji] But i dont even know this person at all."

Sean is addressing rumors that he was spotted with an alleged new girlfriend, based on the clip that surfaced below.

Last week, citing anonymous sources, MediaTakeOut reported that the pair split up over Sean's refusal to get married. It is unclear if this is true, and at the time of writing, neither party has directly addressed the rumor.

The couple began dating in 2016, just a couple of months after releasing their debut album, Twenty88, under their collaborative duo of the same name. They later welcomed their first child together, Noah, in November 2022.

Fans reacted to the rumors, with some agreeing with MediaTakeOut’s report that Sean and Aiko broke up because he didn’t want to get married, while others were confused about why the pair would part ways after almost a decade together.

Sean shared his viewpoint on marriage in a 2024 conversation with Charlamagne tha God’s Out of Context podcast. At the time, Sean explained that "marriage symbolizes the best relationship," and that "having a relationship is first and foremost."

"I feel like a lot of people get the idea of like, 'Oh, you have to get married,'" Sean added. "But then it's like, to me, that's almost a fear-based way of thinking, too. Because then people be getting divorced. The divorce rate so fucking high."

The rapper clarified that marriage isn't off the table for him and Aiko, but they haven’t yet reached the point where they are ready to take that step.

"There's a lot of work that needs to be done," Sean said.
