No additional statements have been released about the cause of Avicii's sudden death until now. According to Deadline, the Oman police have revealed that post-mortem exams show there was “no criminal suspicion” surrounding his death.
The 28-year-old EDM DJ died at a Muscat Hills resort in Muscat, Oman. Authorities have conducted two post-mortem examinations and concluded that no foul play or criminal activities were involved.
Avicii’s older brother, David Bergling traveled to Oman to find out firsthand what the cause of death was. In 2016, Avicii announced that he was retiring from touring due to health issues, including acute pancreatitis, a disease linked to excessive drinking. He had also had his gallbladder and appendix removed.
Instead of playing shows, Avicii was spending his time in the studio; his most recent release was a collaboration with Rita Ora called “Lonely Together.”
During his time, Avicii was nominated for two Grammy awards: Best Dance Recording for the song “Sunshine” in 2011, and Best Dance Recording for the song “Levels” in 2012.
