21 Savage surprised students by making an appearance at his Leading by Example Foundation event this week.
On Thursday (May 14), the rapper’s organization hosted the Bank Account Financial Literacy Program’s completion ceremony at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, where he surprised over 800 students from across seven participating DeKalb County schools.
The event also included a panel discussion featuring Cleveland Browns Linebacker Jerome Baker, Founder and CEO of Life Beyond The Game Chelsia McKie, A&R Specialist Kimuel Joseph, and 21 Savage’s Manager Justin "Meezy" Williams.
Students heard "inspirational stories and received real-world advice on managing money and building financial freedom," a press release said. The program is described as helping "Atlanta youth develop smart financial habits early on, setting a strong foundation for lifelong financial health."
The Leading by Example Foundation's goal is to help educate underserved youth with financial knowledge and to provide scholarships, access to banking resources, and job placement opportunities for teens and students.
21 launched the 21 Savage Bank Account financial literacy program in 2018 to teach young people better money management skills through lessons on budgeting, saving, credit, and banking. Over the years, he's expanded the program by offering a nationwide virtual financial literacy program, a partnership with Chime, and more.
