The Weeknd and Marvel Have Something in Store for Comic-Con

This might explain all those orange squares on the Weeknd's Instagram.

The Weeknd is cooking something up for Comic-Con.

On Saturday afternoon, the Starboy singer returned to social media with an illustration that appears to be his eyes. He captioned the post: “Comic-Con New York || October 7th @Marvel.”

Judging by the background color, the image seems to be related to the series of orange squares he posted on Instagram earlier this week. Many people assumed the panels were hinting at a music release or promoting his latest H&M collaboration; however, some fans speculated the Weeknd was teasing a project with Marvel. (It’s not as random as it sounds.)

Around the time of his Starboy release, the Weeknd sat down with Zane Lowe to discuss the album as well as his desire to create a comic book centered on the project’s title character.

"Starboy is the next chapter in this chronicle, this saga," he said. "I guess this is the fourth chapter. He's a character that we created. It's so funny, we want to create a comic out of him as well [...] He's a cool, dope character that makes appearances a lot on the album. He's definitely made his appearance in different records in the past as well. He's a more braggadocious character that we all have inside of us."

It’s important to note that Marvel has also posted the illustration on its official Instagram account; however, it also didn’t provide many details. Is the Weeknd working on music for a new project? Or will we finally get the rumored Starboy comic? We’ll know for sure in a week.
