Last week, it was reported that two Los Angeles rappers were suing Snoop Dogg, Suge Knight, Kurupt, Nate Dogg’s estate, and Warren G, for allegedly stealing the 1993 song "Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None)." Craig Ward and Antonio White, the men behind the claims, insist they are the original writers of the song’s hook and that they played "Ain’t No Fun" for Knight, Snoop, Dre, and Kurupt in 1992.
The allegations are pretty heavy, but Warren G says he’s not tripping over it.
Just days after the lawsuit made headlines, TMZ caught up with the rapper/producer to get his thoughts on the case. Warren G says he doesn’t know what is going on exactly and goes on to defend his work as well as the work of his collegeus.
"I ain’t stole shit. I ain’t a thief," he told TMZ. "What do we look like doing that? We’re self-made. We built our success with how we did it. We didn’t need nobody to do what we did […] We continue to be successful and make great records […] period."
When asked why he thought the lawsuit was filed more than 20 years after the song came out, Warren gave a simple reply: "Whack attack."
