Travis Scott’s ‘ASTROWORLD’ Did Score No. 1 Album Over 6ix9ine’s ‘DUMMY BOY’

Turns out 6ix9ine's DUMMY BOYdidn't debut at No. 1.

Earlier this month, there were conflicting reports about whether the controversial rapper had taken the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart, dated Dec. 8. It was reported that Travis Scott's ASTROWORLD returned to the No. 1 slot for the third nonconsecutive week. But, according to an email obtained by Hits Daily Double, those initial figures weren't accurate.

"Our team has done a deep dive and found the cause of the initial discrepancy," Drew Bennett of Nielsen wrote. "I've since then reprocessed the jobs necessary and re-finalized the charts. As a result, 6ix9ine's Dummy Boy will be moving to #1... Our team is working quickly to identify the root cause of this discrepancy to ensure that we get it right the first time."

The debacle left many fans scratching their heads, and even resulted in legal threats against Nielsen, which allegedly failed to provide accurate data for SoundCloud and Tidal streams. It was also reported that the former platform submitted their streaming stats late, effectively disqualifying those numbers.

Sources at Nielsen later told HDD that DUMMY BOY had surpassed ASTROWORLDby only 200 units. Contrary to those reports, Billboard insists their ranking was correct the first time around.

"In a historically close race, after a rigorous review of the process and the methodology by which the No. 1 ranking on last week’s Billboard 200 album chart was awarded to Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD, we concluded that no correction was warranted," a Billboard representative told TMZ.
