Is Quavo shelving music for professional football? No, but the rapper did joke about pursuing a NFL career after he was compared to Houston Texans’ backup QB Taylor Heinicke this week.

Following Heinicke’s brief appearance in Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, reporter Ari Alexander, of KVOA News 4 Tucson, pointed out the connection between the athlete and the Migos member. It turns out Heinicke broke a Georgia high school record set by a young gun previously known as Quavious Marshall.

Quavo set the Gwinnett County (Georgia) high school record in 2009 by completing 29 passes in a game for Berkmar High. Heinicke tied Quavo's record and threw for 34 completions for Collins High in 2010.

Quavo responded to the stats on social media, writing: “J U S C A L L M E H O U S T O N TRUE STORY TOO!!!”

Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins got in on the fun, and left a comment inviting the “Bad and Boujee” rapper to try out.

“It was definitely a joke. I don't think he could hold anybody's jock strap in the NFL, honestly. So, he should definitely stick to music,” Hopkins told the Associated Press. “[…] I don't think Quavo was on Taylor's level. I mean, it could have been, I don't know, but I don't think he was on Taylor's level.”

Heinicke also seemed amused by the comparison, and eventually proposed a friendly challenge to the “Bad and Boujee” rapper along with some mild taunting.
