6ix9ine has one more legal issue on his hands.
As he remains behind bars on federal racketeering charges, the 23-year-old rapper has been hit with a federal lawsuit over his 2018 track "Stoopid." According to the suit obtained by The Blast, Miami artist Yung Gordon—legal name Seth Gordon—has accused 6ix9ine and producer Tay Keith of using his work without proper authorization.
The recording in question is featured at the beginning of select "Stoopid" versions, in which Gordon is heard saying: "Y'all already know, it be the boy Yung Gordon/You rockin' with Take Money Promotions/Ay Take Money Promotions/Give 'em that new shit, no fool shit/Oh Yeah, let's go."
Gordon claims that the clip was a "radio drop"—a type of recording used for promotional purposes. The plaintiff says he was contacted by Take Money Promotions to record this particular drop; he claims the company then sent the recording to 6ix9ine, who then used it as the "Stoopid" intro.
Gordon is suing the defendants, including Create Music Group, for copyright infringement. He is seeking unspecified damages as well as an injunction that would prohibit 6ix9ine from profiting off his recording.
"Stoopid" featured East Coast rapper Bobby Shmurda, and served as the fourth single off 6ix9ine's 2018 debut album DUMMY BOY.
