It’s safe to say the members of Maroon 5 are big fans of the hip-hop genre.

Not only has their frontman Adam Levine joined forces with rappers like Kanye West, 50 Cent, and Eminem, the pop rock outfit has also collaborated with everyone from Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar to ASAP Rocky and SZA.

On Thursday night, Maroon 5 extended their list of rap collaborations with the release of their “Wait” remix featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The original record served as the second single off the group’s 2017 studio album, Red Pill Blues. And we wouldn’t be surprised if this reworked version gave the track a significant boost.

“Wait, can we work this out? I've been thinking out loud all day / Don't let me down, can't live without my bae,” A Boogie spits. “And she wanna leave, but I think it's easier/ If you let me be, you should come and see me, girl / Just think about it, girl, you should know I still think about you.”

In an exclusive 2017 interview with People magazine, Maroon 5 lead guitarist James Valentine spoke about the group’s love for hip-hop and why they’ve never been afraid to incorporate it into their music.

“Combining genres is something that we’ve always been interested in,” he explained. “It’s influenced a lot of the way we’ve approached the band from the start […] We were a rock band, but we were really influenced by hip-hop records and soul music, so mixing that together has always been one of our favorite things.”

You can listen to the “Wait” remix now on Apple Music or iTunes.

The new track arrives nearly four months after A Boogie unleashed his debut album, The Bigger Artist. Earlier this month, the 22-year-old Bronx rapper announced he had more music in store for the upcoming year, writing: “I’m coming for everything that’s mine in #2018.”
