Meek Mill on Low 'Baby on Baby 2' Sales Projections: 'They Blatantly Black Balling DaBaby'

Meek Mill is once again backing DaBaby.

On Thursday afternoon, the Philadelphia rapper took to Twitter to weigh in on DaBaby’s “blackballing” claims. Meek didn’t provide details, but said it was clear sabotage tactics were being used against the Charlotte MC.

“They blatantly black balling da baby,” Meek wrote. “Not my business but ima observer 👨🏾‍🔬.”

DaBaby made the claim via Instagram this week, amid disappointing sales projections for Baby on Baby 2. The 14-track release is expected to move just 16,000 units in its first week—a massive drop from the 124,000 units earned by his previous solo full-length, 2020’s Blame It on Baby.

“Not bad for da blackballed Baby,” the 30-year-old wrote on his Instagram Stories.

This isn’t the first time Meek has come to DaBaby’s defense. Earlier this year, the Dreamchasers boss seemingly justified Baby’s physical altercation with Brandon Bills—the brother of his on-again, off-again girlfriend DaniLeigh. Video of the incident quickly circulated on social media, and appeared to show DaBaby and his crew initiating the fight. Meek suggested Baby wasn’t at fault, as he was simply reacting to a perceived threat.

“On site mean on site…it’s basically a threat!” wrote Meek, who also collaborated with DaBaby on 2020’s “8 Figures.”

DaBaby has faced a series of controversies over the past few years, including the aforementioned brawl, his support for Kanye’s presidential campaign, and a shooting outside his North Carolina home. His career took the most significant hit after his performance at 2021’s Rolling Loud Miami, where he spewed homophobic comments and inaccurate information about HIV/AIDS.

In the aftermath, DaBaby lost major business deals and had multiple gigs canceled, leading some to believe he was being blackballed. Boosie Badazz, who is no stranger to controversy, seems to agree with that assessment currently.

“Ain’t no way my n***a @DaBabyDaBaby supposed to sell 16k after selling almost 150k his last first week,” Boosie tweeted. “He one of the BIGGEST n this shit ‼️I DONT KNOW WHATS GOING ON BUT SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY GOING ON ‼️”
