Increasing fears over the coronavirus have had drastic effects on the concert industry: ticket sales have noticably dropped, major festivals have been canceled, and a growing list of artists have pulled out of gigs.

On Saturday, Ciara announced she was postponing a Texas concert because of concerns over the rapidly spreading disease. The Grammy-winning singer was scheduled to perform in her birthplace of Fort Hood, Texas, on March 19, but was advised to cancel the show after speaking to her doctors.

"With the continued spread of the coronavirus throughout the U.S., as a pregnant woman, my doctors have advised me to limit travel and large group gatherings," Ciara said in a statement. "I am disappointed I won’t be able to return this month to the place where I was born, Ft. Hood, Texas, and put on the amazing show we had planned."

The concert was to take place during the grand opening of USO Fort Hood; however, that event was also pushed back to the summer.

"I look forward to being able to bring it to you at a later date in 2020," Ciara continued. "I want to thank the USO and the entire community at Ft. Hood for extending your hospitality to myself and my team. I urge everyone to be diligent in taking steps to stay healthy and safe!"

As pointed out by USA Today, many artists have chosen to relocate, reschedule, or cancel performances due to the coronavirus outbreak. Mariah Carey announced she was postponing her March 10 concert in Hawaii; Louis Tomlinson pulled out of a March 4 in Milan; and Khalid was forced to reschedule several Asia stops during his Free Spirit World Tour.
