Bobby Shmurda could be released from prison sooner than we expected.

Earlier this week, the 22-year-old MC appeared in court for his alleged attempt to smuggle a shank into Rikers Island. Shmurda is now facing up to seven years in prison because of the reported stunt; however, prosecutors have offered a plea deal that could significantly reduce the sentence.

TMZ reports Shmurda, real name Ackquille Jean Pollard, is being urged by his attorney Alex Spiro to plead guilty to "attempted promoting prison contraband." If he accepts the deal, Shmurda will get one to four years in prison, which will run concurrently with his existing seven-year sentence for conspiracy charges.

In June of 2015, Shmurda was re-arrested in prison after his girlfriend allegedly slipped him a shank during a visit. Prison officials said Kimberly Rousseau was caught taking a black latex glove out of her bra and handing it to Shmurda. A prison guard confiscated the object and discovered a sharpened metal object inside. The couple pleaded not guilty to the contraband charge.

It’s unclear if Shmurda will take the plea deal; however, he must make a decision before his Jan. 7 hearing. Spiro was not immediately available for comment.
