ScHoolboy Q Connects With His Gangster Rap Roots on His New Single, "Groovy Tony"

Top Dawg promised and he delivered.

Earlier today, TDE's CEO Top Dawg tweeted that he would be releasing new music from someone on the label after his plane touched down in California.

It looks like he was true to his word, because just as the clock struck eleven, ScHoolboy Q unleashed his new single "Groovy Tony." Q goes in over an eerie beat, showcasing his signature unhinged rap style. "Robbing your kids too/My heart an igloo/The devil in all blue/Go to heaven or bring 'em through," he spits. Soon after midnight, he also released the video for the track.

"Groovy Tony" is our first taste of ScHoolboy Q's upcoming third album, the follow up to his 2014 release Oxymoron. There's no word on an official title or release date yet, but with the first single finally out, hopefully it won't be too much longer before the album follows. After Top Dawg's lofty promises about TDE's release schedule in 2016, many were worried that the promised music wouldn't materialize. So far, it looks like he's keeping to his word.

You can stream "Groovy Tony" on Apple Music or purchase it on iTunes here. You can also watch the music video above.
