Gearing up for the release of her Atlantic Records debut this fall, Kehlani is back with her new track "Distraction." The breezy R&B song finds Kehlani looking for someone romantic to draw her attention away from real life. "Are you down to be a distraction baby?/But don't distract me, let me ask you baby/Do you, do you, do you wanna be a distraction baby?" she sings on the soulful chorus.
This is Kehlani's second song in recent weeks. She dropped the anthemic "CRZY" earlier in July, and attempted to take back control of the media narrative surrounding her life after she made headlines for her complicated relationship with Kyrie Irving and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Clearly she's ready to move on and get back to focusing on her music, which she puts on full display with "Distraction."
Kehlani recently announced on Instagram that she'll be playing the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver, Colo. alongside G-Eazy. The concert is set for later in September, and is sure to be a big moment for the budding young star.
Kehlani's You Should Be Here mixtape won her rave reviews in 2015, and nabbed her a Grammy nomination in the process. She's hoping to build on that success with her upcoming album.
