Adele Tears Up While Dedicating Concert to Orlando Shooting Victims

Adele spoke out in support of the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando at a concert on Sunday night and teared up while doing so. The British singer told a crowd in Antwerp, Belgium about her love for the LGBT community and her heartbreak at seeing the events that transpired. "I would like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando at Pulse nightclub," she said. "The LGBTQIA community, they're like my soulmates since I was really young, so I'm really moved by it."

The shooting at Pulse nightclub is the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, with 50 dead as a result of it and more than 50 wounded. The lone suspect in the shooting, Omar Mateen, reportedly pledged allegiance to ISIS before the attack, although his father told NBC News that his motivations were likely homophobic, not religious. He said Mateen had been enraged after seeing two men kissing in Miami a few months ago. Pulse is a nightclub that caters to the LGBT community.

Adele has previously spoken out in support of LGBT people. Back in May, she helped a gay Swedish couple get engaged on stage at a concert, and she has also pledged to support her son Angelo regardless of his sexuality. Additionally, she has voiced her support for other causes, including Kesha's legal plight against Dr. Luke and body image issues facing women.
