Vic Mensa Checks His Own ‘Disrespect’ in Sway Freestyle: ‘I Dissed Yachty, Dissed Ak, Dissed XXX’

The Chicago rapper also reflected on the error of dissing Drake while visiting 'Sway's Universe.'

Fresh off spitting a few Ja Morant-related bars during a quick chat with TMZ, Vic Mensa stopped by Sway's Universe for a wide-ranging interview that was capped off by a freestyle. In it, the Chicago rapper referenced previously dissing Lil Yachty, DJ Akademiks, and XXXTentacion.

"I fell victim to addictions and my mental state/Stupid shit, like dissing Drake/That was a big mistake," Mensa raps at the 52:40 mark of the above clip, referencing his 2017 diss of the Toronto rapper. "But when you raised in a cage, all you know is MMA/I dissed Yachty, dissed Ak, dissed XXX/It was disrespect/It made the fans disinvest."

Mensa's freestyle arrives after the Chicago rapper dropped a pair of new singles in the first half of 2023, joining forces with Chance the Rapper and G-Eazy for "Swish," and teaming up with Thundercat and Maeta on "Strawberry Louis Vuitton."

This month he kicked a few rhymes for TMZ when the outlet caught up with Vic and asked him about Ja Morant's latest suspension.

"My mama keep telling me to stop, I can’t/The second time they caught me with that gun, damn, I feel like Ja Morant,” Vic rhymed.

Mensa later shared his thoughts on the Memphis Grizzlies star, saying, “I think God blessed Ja Morant, man,” Mensa said. “I pray that that brother gets it together and he figures it out, because he’s too brilliant and so talented. He’s got a gift, he’s got a real gift. ... I’m not gonna say anything to disparage him. There’s enough people doing that.”
