After dropping several collaborative projects in 2022, including albums with Nas (King’s Disease III) and Dreezy (Hitgirl), Hit-Boy returns with his first solo effort in three years, Surf or Drown.

Serving as the follow-up to 2020’s The Chauncey Hollis Project, Hit-Boy’s latest LP features guest appearances from Nas (“The Tide”), Currensy (“Tony Fontana III”), Alchemist (“Slipping Into Darkness”), Dom Kennedy (“State Champ”), James Fauntleroy (“MTR”), his son, C3, and many more.

Earlier this month, during a Twitter Spaces interview with TIDAL’s Elliott Wilson, Hit-Boy shared details on his creative process while recording his latest offering.

“Some of the vibes on there I feel like people are gonna rock with. It’s not all soul chops and shit; it’s modern sounds, it’s everything. It’s a world to come into,” he explained.

“In different interviews and stuff I’ve been doing, I’ve been talking about how I went through some real stuff and I had to really figure out my place back in the game and just understand my personal power in this shit,” he added. “I could’ve drowned in this shit, so it’s like, Surf or Drown.

In addition, Hit plans on hosting a live experience for Surf or Drown in LA on Melrose and Fairfax between 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Details below.
