Justin Timberlake may be headed to the Las Vegas Strip. Just days after newly released body camera footage from his 2024 DUI arrest reignited headlines, the singer is reportedly in discussions with MGM and Live Nation for a Las Vegas residency beginning in 2028.
According to NewsNation, the ex-boy bander is being considered for a run at Dolby Live at Park MGM, the 5,200-seat venue that has previously hosted major names including Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, and Usher. The venue has become one of the Strip’s top rooms for established artists looking to package their biggest hits into a more compact live experience.
The reported talks come at an awkward moment for Timberlake. Earlier this week, redacted police body camera footage from his June 2024 arrest in Sag Harbor, NY, was released.
The footage showed the singer struggling through field sobriety tests and telling officers they were “hard.” At one point, Timberlake attempted to identify himself to police, saying, “It’s hard to explain… I’m Justin Timberlake.”
The release came after his legal team had initially attempted to keep the footage private before agreeing to a redacted version.
Despite the renewed attention around the arrest, insiders say Justin Timberlake has already shifted focus to what comes next. One source described the DUI incident as embarrassing but no longer central to his career plans, particularly as he looks toward a potential residency built around familiar hits like “SexyBack,” “Cry Me a River,” and “Rock Your Body.”
The proposed Vegas move would also follow a difficult period for Timberlake professionally. His recent Forget Tomorrow World Tour reportedly struggled to gain traction, while the album tied to the tour failed to generate the same level of attention as his earlier releases. Per discussions, any Las Vegas show would likely lean heavily on his catalog of older material rather than songs from the recent project.
That strategy would mirror the route other stars have taken after underperforming albums or tours. Jennifer Lopez, for example, pivoted toward a Las Vegas engagement after her 2024 album and film project failed to connect commercially.
She later announced a limited Caesars Palace run built around both classic songs and newer material.
