Nearly 20 years after it first arrived during the peak of Sean Paul’s crossover run, “(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me” is climbing the charts again.
The Sean Paul and Keyshia Cole collaboration has re-entered the UK Singles Chart, reaching a new peak of No. 30 earlier this month—one spot higher than its original 2006 run—and currently sits at No. 31 on the chart dated April 1, 2026.
According to Dancehall Magazine, the renewed interest has also helped the track earn a new milestone in the United Kingdom, where it was recently certified Gold for surpassing 400,000 units.
The chart return marks a rare second life for a mid-2000s hit. “Give It Up to Me” first entered the UK chart in late 2006 and spent eight weeks in the Top 100, peaking at No. 31.
It has now returned nearly two decades later, thanks to a wave of rediscovery on streaming and social media. More than 350 million Spotify streams and a viral TikTok dance have pushed the song back into rotation.
Originally written for Sean Paul’s 2005 album The Trinity, the song was initially intended to follow “Temperature” as another single from the project. Atlantic ultimately shifted plans and attached the record to the 2006 dance film Step Up instead.
The Keyshia Cole-assisted version was released on June 20, 2006, two weeks after Sean Paul’s solo version hit the radio. Although The Trinity was reissued shortly before the single arrived, the duet with Cole never appeared on the album itself.
The decision paid off almost immediately. “(When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me” climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Sean Paul his sixth Top 10 hit in the United States and earning Keyshia Cole her first. The single also cracked the Top 20 in several countries, including Australia, Finland, Switzerland, and Belgium.
Produced by Donovan “Don Corleon” Bennett, one of Sean Paul’s most important collaborators of the era, the track was co-written with Jason Henriques and Nigel Staff.
Its music video became just as recognizable as the song itself. Directed by Little X, the clip places Sean Paul and Keyshia Cole in a gym surrounded by dancers, then brings in Step Up stars Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, and Drew Sidora.
Future dance stars Jon Cruz and Rufino Puno of Super Cr3w also appear briefly in the video.
As of this writing, that clip has passed 439 million views on YouTube.
