Kehlani is stepping into a new chapter with the announcement of her next project. The R&B singer confirmed that her fifth studio album, Kehlani, will arrive on April 24, marking her first full-length release since 2024’s Crash.
According to Variety, the self-titled album has already been described as one of her most personal efforts to date. Release details indicate that the project is expected to showcase “soul-baring storytelling” paired with the genre-blending sound that has defined her career.
Kehlani previously hinted at the direction in a recent podcast interview, calling it “a very confident body of work” and adding, “I wanted to make a great R&B album… everything is falling perfectly into place.”
Momentum for the album has been building in recent months. Her single “Folded” became a major crossover hit, peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning her two Grammy Awards earlier this year for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
The track also sparked a wave of remixes from established R&B names. A follow-up single, “Out the Window,” continued that rollout ahead of the album announcement.
The timing of the release also aligns with Kehlani’s expanding presence on major stages. She was recently announced as part of the first wave of performers for EssenceFest 2026, where she will join a lineup that includes Brandy, Monica, and Patti LaBelle.
The New Orleans festival, scheduled for July 3–5, is expected to spotlight R&B heavily this year, though some hip-hop acts like Cardi B are sure to make a strong impression as well.
